When talking to those outside of the church, I sometimes feel I'm doing the opposite: trying to save Jesus from the church. Though I know that Jesus doesn't need my defense, I feel like I need to defend him to outsiders in light of the misrepresentations the church often gives.
I can relate to what Travis said, too. But God forgive me when I am guilty of either saving the church from Jesus -- or saving Jesus from the church!

I agree with you Travis. It can be so frustrating to talk with people who are negative about Jesus when they are really reacting to the way people have treated them.
