Most Influential People

There is no right or wrong answer...but I'm curious:

Who are your top 3 most influential people in America?

Even as secular a society as we are, maybe I'm being naive -- but I still think Jesus would be #1.

2nd: Oprah Winfrey

3rd: Barack Obama

I am answering the question as those people who influence ME in America - not who influences America. Jesus is a given.
1. Dianne Ross
2. Rick Warren
3. Ronald Reagan (yes ... still influencing)
(honorable mention: Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Rick Ross, Larry Hubbard [elder], Jimmy Allen, Rubel Shelley, Casting Crowns)

Oprah - she says "buy a Kindle" and they sell out. She says "read this book" and it's a best seller.

Obama - he's convinced a country that a young, inexperienced, minority can lead the most powerful country in the world. That's influence. Plus, Oprah said to elect him.

Hillary Clinton or Rick Warren - I'm not sure where to go with this one. Hillary's supporters are passionate which makes me think she might be most influencial. On th other hand, I think Warren reaches more Christians and many non-Christians with his books.

I'm a bit of a cynic. I'd like to list Jesus but I don't think enough people, even Christian people, allow themselves to be influenced by Jesus as much as they do Oprah. I hope my list is very, very, very wrong.

If I read this write, my 3 top influence people in America? Jesus is a given.

1. Zig Ziglar (for his Christian spirit and "better than good" attitude of life). In person, he is very kind and encouraging.

2. Lynn Anderson (for mentoring people like Mike Lucado and Rick Atchley. His heart has encouraged many souls in our nation.)

3. Rubel Shelley (for ajavascript:void(0)
Publish Your Commentddressing the issues of legalism in the early 80s. His writings and talks influenced me for not abandoning COC altogether.)

1. Oprah - she speaks and the world moves. She said the Kindle was a cool product and they sold out before the Christmas rush. She mentions a book and it's a best seller. She supports a Presidential candidate and he wins.

2. Obama - a young, inexperienced, minority candidate convinced a nation to vote for him and won (with Oprah's help).

3. Rick Warren - his books attract Christians and non-Christians alike and he got a Presidential debate. That's heady stuff.

I tried to limit mine to individuals but I would say that major advertising houses have a significant amount of influence. I would add CNN also.

I wish I could say Jesus is the most influential or even one of the top-3 but I don't really feel like that's the case - even among some Christians. I shouldn't say that but feel I can because there are times in my life that I am guilty too.

1. Parents (or lack of)
2. Media (whoever or whatever you choose to listen to regularly)
3. Self

I don't think this is what you had in mind, but the more I thought about it, the more I came back to these.
