More Thoughts on Prayer

Unfortunately, prayer often becomes the response to circumstances.
However, our relationship with God goes much deeper when prayer becomes the foundation of life; not just the response to circumstances.
Paul puts it this way in 1 Thes.5, "Pray continually."

In the context of a conversation about prayer; Mark Driscoll said this:

"Many Christian's pray like pagans, we treat God like a piƱata and our prayers like sticks. We think if we pray enough that all the goodies and blessings should fall from the sky... Christianity is not a religion that gets us around things; it is a relationship with God to help get us through things... Jesus' prayers did not get him around the cross..."

I find that my prayers "bounce off the ceiling" when I have not made an effort to keep my personal relationship with God close and personal. Some times I let life get in the way!
